We're already halfway through September, and it's been almost two months since our last update. We took the entire month of August for some much-needed vacation time. Since our return, we've been working on two projects that excite us greatly, and we can't wait to share them with you soon.
In addition to these projects, we've been juggling our day jobs, family commitments, and a few hobbies here and there. We've also been active on our website, and we're thrilled to share our latest content with you.
CHARLES WILKIN: EXPANDING HIS UNSPOKEN AND INTANGIBLE UNIVERSE
I can no longer keep it a secret—Charles's work has been a personal favorite of mine for quite some time. Ever since I discovered his art through his book 'Index A' in the early 2000s, everything he has created has left a lasting impression on me. Charles, aside from being incredibly talented, is also fearless, constantly pushing the boundaries of his art into uncharted territories beyond his comfort zone. In this new interview, we delve into his latest exhibition, where he transitions from working with paper to creating pieces using ceramics and textiles. Conversations with him are always a delight, so, if you haven't already read his interview, I strongly encourage you to do so now.
GLUEHEADS: A BERLIN ODYSSEY INTO THE UNREAL
As many artists reach out to us to share their projects, we introduced the 'Project Sharing' section on our website earlier this year. In this case, Lula Valetta, an artist based in Berlin, tells us all about the 'Glueheads' project and the exhibitions taking place in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Read here to discover everything Lula shared about this inspiring project.
STUDIO VISIT: DOUGLAS FLORIAN — COLLAPSING GRIDS AND LIVING LANGUAGE
At TWS, we're fortunate to have Andrea Burgay, a tremendously talented artist who occasionally visits and exclusively interviews artists she admires in their studios. Andrea undoubtedly shines in our 'Studio Visit' section. This time, through her lens, we get to explore the studio and work of Douglas Florian, an artist we adore for using collage as a means to interpret the world, not merely as an artistic technique.
Speaking of Andrea, we highly recommend following her 'Cut Me Up' project (we've previously discussed it in our magazine here, here and here). The deadline for Issue 12, curated by the legendary Allan Bealy, is October 1st. Don't miss it!
WEEKLY INSPIRATION
It's been quite a while, and our future correspondent, Cless, has shared numerous artists in our 'Weekly Inspiration' Mondays. We've featured works by Haroshi, Jean-Luc Almond, Willem de Haan, and many more. The best thing you can do is head over here and check out all the latest posts because, if you haven't seen them yet, you're in for a treat.
BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS
The same goes for our collection of books. We've added several new titles, including publications by Nico Krijno, Robert Mars, Frido Troost, Momo and more. Don't miss out. Swing by our library and pick up a book that tickles your fancy :) You're sure to enjoy it.
