TWS News. 2023-07-24
These last weeks had been (hot, at least here in Barcelona) and full of new great interviews and collage related content.
New interviews
Raphaël Vicenzi, the tension between happy accidents, randomness and intention.
We've been following mydeadpony's incredible work on Instagram for quite some time now. Their raw and expressive collages blend elements of punk, graffiti, and even Dadaism. To learn more about mydeadpony, we had a chat with Raphaël Vicenzi, the Brussels-based artist behind this Insta handle that we like so much.
Remixing cultural narratives: An intro to Sameena Sitabkhan
In our recent interview to Anthony Grant we asked him about which artists he had discovered or was enjoying lately. One of the names that he mentioned was Sameena Sitabkhan, whom we weren’t aware of. As soon as we checked her mixed media work where indian cultural references and expressive use of color lived with the traditional collage language we wanted to dig deeper into her art, ideas and processes, so we invited her to answer our “An intro to” interview.
Artists that inspire us!
In this section, guided by our correspondent from the future, Cless, we attempt to seek out artists who, coming from artistic practices distant from collage, can offer us alternative ways of understanding our medium. What is collage? What can qualify as collage? Is this considered collage? These are all questions we like to keep in mind as we strive to evolve our work and approach our practice.
